If the NFL Playoffs started today for the Minnesota Vikings
After the completion of the Monday night game, we have completed 10 weeks of the 2019 NFL season. That means that there are only a maximum of 7 games left for each NFL team to make the playoffs and decide their seeding within.
The Minnesota Vikings have been in the playoff picture all season and currently sit at 7-3 on the season. Because of their early struggles in the division the Vikings are currently a Wild Card team. They will have to catch the Green Bay Packers in order to get a home field advantage in the playoffs. That is still realistic as the Vikings sit only 1 game behind Green Bay.
The good thing for the Vikings is that they finish the season with home games in the division against all three other NFC North teams. They just need to win those home games and the division is essentially theirs. Kirk Cousins and company seems up for the challenge as of late.
Lets take a look at what the playoffs would look like if they started today.
The Vikings would travel to New Orleans to play the Saints who are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
The bad news is that this isn't the most ideal matchup for the Vikings because the Saints are considered one of the best teams in the NFL despite their latest performance.
The good news is that the last time the Vikings played the Saints in the playoffs they advanced to the NFC Conference Championship game.
Being the 6th seed, the Vikings would move on to play the 49ers on the road if they won. I am still not sold on how good the 49ers actually are but time will tell. A positive of this is that weather would not be as a big of a factor as having to travel to the current #2 seed Green Bay during winter.
There will still be a lot of movement as we near the end of the season, but this is fun to look at for now because we are getting to the point where every win and loss start to feel a little heavier.
